Fostering Creativity and Innovation through Technology
Sheena Vaidyanathan is a Visual Arts and Digital Arts teacher in the Los Altos School district. She has been on a personal mission to get elementary school students excited about STEM subjects early. She has taught 1,500 elementary students digital and visual art classes for five years. Vaidyanathan states in the article that creativity and innovation are essential skills that will prepare our students to compete in a global workforce. Her belief in students ability to use computers for creativity instead of learning about technology or learning with technology defines her passion on the subject of creativity. She has testimonies from students and parents about the learning that continues to take place outside of the class. All of the programs that Vaidyanthan uses in her class are available to students for no cost at home.
